Frequently Asked Questions
What conditions do you treat?
We can treat virtually any condition. While we specialize in women’s health, fertility, perinatal care, pediatrics, and mental-emotional wellness, our approach is holistic and individualized.
Dr. Elise Lasko practices Five Element Acupuncture, which treats the person on the mental-emotional level—supporting the physical body in resolving symptoms from the inside out.
What should I expect during my first visit?
Your first visit is a 2-hour session where we take time to understand your health concerns and get to know you as a whole person. We’ll review your health history, discuss your goals, and begin treatment.
This initial visit may include acupuncture, an herbal medicine assessment, and other therapies like cupping, gua sha, or moxibustion based on your needs. Our approach supports healing on the physical, mental, and spiritual levels.
Do you take insurance?
We are not currently in-network with insurance providers, but we can provide a superbill for you to submit to your insurance if your plan covers out-of-network acupuncture.
We gladly accept payment with FSA (Flexible Spending Account) and HSA (Health Savings Account) cards.
Is acupunture safe during pregnancy?
Yes. Acupuncture is a safe, effective, and natural way to support pregnancy and prepare for labor. Dr. Elise Lasko is highly trained in perinatal acupuncture and works with pregnant individuals throughout all stages of pregnancy and postpartum
What is Five Element Acupuncture?
Five Element Acupuncture is a holistic style of treatment that focuses on the root cause of imbalance—especially on emotional, mental, and spiritual well-being. It’s particularly supportive for those navigating transitions, stress, or seeking deeper healing.
Do you offer herbal medicine or supplements?
Yes, we offer customized Chinese herbal formulas as part of your treatment plan. We also provide high-quality supplements and can order lab work when appropriate to support your overall care. All recommendations are tailored to your individual needs and health goals.
Can children receive acupuncture?
Absolutely. Pediatric treatments are gentle and tailored to your child’s age and comfort level. We may use non-needle techniques such as shonishin (a Japanese pediatric method), acupressure, or herbal support.
How many sessions will I need?
Every person and condition is different. Acute issues may resolve quickly, while chronic conditions or more severe injuries often require longer-term care. We recommend starting with at least 4 sessions to allow your body to respond before determining next steps.
For those planning to conceive or experiencing infertility, we suggest receiving acupuncture for at least 3 months prior to trying to conceive to support optimal fertility and cycle regulation.
What can acupuncture help with emotionally?
Many people come to us for support with anxiety, depression, overwhelm, grief, and trauma. Acupuncture and Five Element theory address emotional balance and help restore a sense of ease and vitality.
What are your clinic hours and how do I book?
We offer flexible appointment times including mornings, afternoons, and limited evenings Monday-Friday and weekends upon request. You can book online or call us at (760) 283-6745. We also offer free phone consultations if you’d like to speak with Dr. Elise before scheduling. You will see the free phone consult option on the booking page.
